White Fillings
In the past, metal amalgam was the filling material of choice. There are still some rare instances when we will recommend an amalgam filling, but these are few and far between. It is a strong and durable material however in large fillings it can weaken a tooth over time and they can break as a result. Due to its dark colour it is not a good cosmetic option for fixing teeth.
White cosmetic fillings (composite resin) are now the filling material we use most often at Ivory Dental Care in Malahide. We stock a wide variety of shades to get as close a match as possible to your natural teeth. We then sculpt the white filling to create a natural looking filling that blends in seamlessly with your tooth. By using the highest quality white fillings available, we are now able to fix teeth with white fillings that are very strong, durable, and natural looking.
For teeth that are very badly damaged, white fillings may not be the best long term solution. Porcelain fillings (inlays/onlays) or crowns can be used to great effect to reconstruct badly damaged teeth, providing a long lasting, durable and natural looking tooth.
